About Therapy

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is sometimes called “talk therapy” and is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being. It includes a range of treatments (such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, psychodynamic therapies, to name a few) to bring about positive changes to a client’s thinking, feelings, behaviour, and social functioning.

A Registered Psychotherapist can provide help with a range of problems, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction, relationship issues, and healing from trauma. Someone who is experiencing stress, unhappiness, and feeling overwhelmed by their problems may be able to benefit from psychotherapy. A Registered Psychotherapist does not provide diagnoses or prescribe medications.

Psychotherapy may last only a few sessions, while other clients may benefit from longer-term therapy lasting longer term. Often, clients will start with weekly sessions and then will switch to less often or as-needed as they feel better.

I work with teens and adults on an individual basis. I am available currently on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sessions are normally 55 minutes long. Sessions are offered in person or virtually. Please note that my office has stairs; I offer phone or video session to clients for which that is a barrier.
